new shoot with "THOMAS" and new website

Another really fun shoot today! I have not shot that much in the past couple of weeks so it is nice that when I do I get to work with someone who really "gets it" and helps me make them look good. Thomas was a pleasure to work with and I drug him all over the hill and we shot for a few hours total. Lots of photos to go through!

I have been working on updating my website for a while and I always wanted a "dot com" but scotthoover.com was taken so I ended up with a .biz...I am keeping it but since I tag all my photos with scotthooverphotography, I decided to grab that domain and redo my site there. All I have up currently is a front page with a contact link, but I will have it up and running in a couple days.

working on and editing photos until my eyes are crossed!

The last few weeks I have been doing a great deal of photo editing. I have limited my shooting so I can get caught up with all my work. I am slowly getting there and am almost done picking photos for my new image gallery and am re-editing “the book” over and over. I am still debating on whether to do a few smaller themed books or one big hard bound book of all my favorites...decisions, decisions. I have some models that I have a dozen images of that I really love and some where this is one that really stands out...I need some Advil!

I have completed my two magazine projects that I needed to get done and sent the photos off to the editors, and  I will be spending most of this weekend doing more photo editing and blog updates and website updates. I get hassled by friends for being anti-social lately ( you know who you are), but it really has nothing to do with being unfriendly, it is about me needing to get caught up and ready for new projects.  Yes, I am married to my work but would not have it any other way :)

Casting call: Male models for classy nudes

I get asked all the time to shoot nudes. I tend to like to keep things very sexy without baring it all, but I have decided to create a project of sexy, classy nude photography. Along the lines of what I shoot now but with nudity. I am looking for a few good men who are interested in working with me in exchange for photos from the shoot and I will shoot a few other "looks" that you may need. A standard model release is required for the shoot. The images are for a book/editorial project. Not for sell to any adult web sites, etc.

Males age 18 and up, athletic bodies, good faces is what I am going for. Height, race, etc is not an issue, getting a good photograph is. I have different tastes so there is not really one look I am after.

If you are interested, send me an email with your contact info, age, stats and a clear face and body shot to scott@scotthoover.biz

thank you-
Scott

Brandon MacKay

One of my favorite men to photograph is Brandon MacKay. He always gives 200% and I have a lot of fun working with him. Brandon is with LA Models. Steph and Alek from Ohlala just ran some photos from my shoots with Brandon. HOT HOT HOT!

3 Men Issue 1

I have been working for what seems like an eternity on my book. Just when I think I have it finished I change it around again. I will have it completed and available before the end of the year.

In the mean time, I have always wanted to do a mini-book or magazine style book so I have created the first issue. Each issue will feature three different male models I have photographed. I will be doing this atleast bi-monthly. This gives me a little more control over the images. I removed many of my photos from Facebook, etc., because they were popping up all over the place without my permission- printed in a German newspaper, on Flicker and other sites without any photo credit. All photographers love having people enjoy their images, but to have them used without any credit or permission is not very cool.

I have shot so many great models that this is also a way for me to help get them more exposure as well.  I hope you enjoy and would love to hear your feedback or the models you would like to see featured.

Okay, back to working on photo editing- Happy Halloween!

updates

The last few couple of weeks since I returned from my trip to New Orleans, I have been mostly editing photos from previous shoots, in an attempt to get caught up on a lot of unfinished business. I have been going back and forth with my ideas for my book and it has been literally driving me crazy! What to use, what not to use, how to publish it, what format...ugh, I need a lobotomy! Trying to edit down my choices is not an easy task.

I did a couple of shoots here and there, but have really been trying to stay focused on this project and get it done. I need to redo my website too...will get to that eventually :)

Jordan

I had the pleasure of working with Jordan one last time before he left back to Australia. This kid has got it, and I am honored to be one of the first photographers to work with him.

We shot fast and furiously for about an hour then went to Bob's Big Boy and had an "american" breakfast before I took him back to the models apartment. Jordan is on a plane right now on his way home. Thank you to Joe at Vision LA and Kirk Blake for making this happen.
